Rally Icon[Updated]

An updated version of my old icon a friend drew for me years ago. 

Her name is Rally Nightshade, she's my first selfie character. I created her when I was 19 years old... I'm 27 now. And around that time I was writing my very first fanfiction... Resident Evil 4 novelization with Rally in place of Ashley. (I do admit of having the guilty pleasure of doing self-inserts) But.. as I continued with the fic, she started to develop further into something more than just a mini-me character. Rally is something I am not... or wish to be actually a little. Where I'm shy and quiet around others... Rally is loud and brash, often jumping into situations and damning the consequences. She's also a little arrogant when it comes to things she knows (obviously in RE4, she firmly believes she can change the outcome of the game or at least keep it as it for as long as possible to 'change' the story. And it does change, but not in the ways she thinks and often leaves her shocked. 

Like in one part, Rally decides to keep the dog in the game with her and Leon and then passing the dog off on Luis, thinking that would change his fate... it doesn't. She is brave but at the same time has many issues in keeping herself from fangirling constantly and often slips into depressed and dark moods when things fail and begins to doubt herself. She even goes as far as to fight with Leon when she becomes sick and tired of his protective nature, forgetting its his mission to bring her home in one piece. She does so because she doesn't want to play the 'damsel-in-distress' role Ashley does, hiding behind Leon to let him do all the work. In believing that if she helps him fight the enemies and some bosses that they'll leave the nightmare that much quicker and not be a burden to Leon. It does work often but at some crucial times it backfires. Leon and the Merchant often scold her for going too wild in her helping.

In one point of the story, Rally requests Leon to teach her how to shoot a gun and Leon refuses outright, seeing that since she didn't know how, she still had her innocence of not taking a life. They fight and after a bit, she coughs up some blood (that one part of which Ashley is captured by the wall) and races down the hall to 'keep' the story going even though she would prefer to stay with Leon in the Sewers. But... turns out her action takes a twist in which Leon is captured by the trap instead of her when Leon attempts to stop her from running away and is shoved into the trap by a Novistador. With no other choice in freeing him, Rally goes into the sewers, the dinning room, castle wall and maze to rescue Leon. Along the way, she learns how to shoot and loses her innocence when she kills a wolf that was attacking Ada. Ada then scolds her for being naive then tells her to deal with the fact she killed something; and to not worry about what Leon will think of her and only use the knowledge and experience in her adventure to further help Leon more effectively. 

Yeah, sounds Mary-Sueish... I'm in the process of rewriting the fanfic to be a bit more better and try to keep Rally from being completely MS. Kinda hard but I do love her so much. She was just going to be only in RE4 but figured I'd stick her in whatever story I maybe writing if I feel she's okay within it. Right now she's in the use of another fanfic writer for his overthetop manga fics which I do find entertaining. :3

I drew this because it has been so LONG since I last drew Rally and almost forgot how to draw her. :3 Maybe I'll draw her as my Deviant ID.

Thanks to a good friend of mine, SaberDelly, pointing out Rally's left eye was... off. Granted I knew that, just drawing anything on the face while the character is facing i that direction throws me off. And it irked me to see it and more so when others saw it. But hey, that's how it goes, eh? To get better you gotta have people point out the flaws a little and you adjust accordingly or the best of your ability. And pray to the muses that the adjustment is better than how it looked before. xD

Anyway, after just copying her right eye and adjust it with Transformation tool failed, I just used the copied eye, and drew over it with a sketch to get a better looking eye for that aside and redid the coloring to adjust the new thing. Now... when I was outlining this, I completely forgot what brush size it was that I had used in the over all outline of the character. >.> I thought it was 3 but now that I look at it... could've been a 4... Or I don't know. :/ I usually use a size 3 brush for outlining anyway, so I don't know why it looks sharper than her left eye. :/ And I use a same round hard brush of all my outlines. Just weird. It's gonna bother me a bit, I did try to blur it a little to soften it up to match a little of the right eye. The left eye still looks too sharp. :/ Sucks.

And I still hate how I shaded the shirt... but with just her shoulders there, is a bit hard for me to shade it properly... oh well.
